Step 1: First Steps | About Baptism

Review What It Means to Be Baptized

Baptism is a meaningful step in your faith journey. It’s a public declaration that you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior and are ready to follow Him. At Crosspointe, we guide you through every part of this process so you can feel confident and prepared.

The Ordinance of Baptism

Baptism is more than a ritual; it’s a symbol of the transformation that has happened in your life through Jesus Christ.

What is Baptism?

  • A symbol of what Christ has done in your life
  • A demonstration of faith to God and others
  • A public declaration of your commitment to Christ

Why Should I Be Baptized?

  • To follow the example set by Jesus
  • To demonstrate your belief and faith to others
  • To publicly acknowledge your new life in Christ

What Does Baptism Mean?

  • It illustrates Christ’s burial and resurrection
  • It represents your new life as a Christian
  • It’s a visual testimony of your faith

Why Be Baptized by Immersion?

  • Jesus was baptized by immersion
  • Every baptism in the Bible was by immersion
  • The word baptize literally means “to immerse”
  • Immersion best symbolizes burial (death to sin) and resurrection (new life in Christ)

Who Should Be Baptized?

  • Every person who has believed in Christ
  • For children, we ensure they fully understand what it means to give their heart to Jesus and the symbolism of baptism
  • Parents are guided to confirm their children’s readiness

Step 2: Share Your Story

Your personal testimony is a public confession of Jesus Christ as Lord. Sharing your story helps you reflect on God’s work in your life and encourages others on their faith journey.

Why a Personal Testimony Matters

  • A testimony is a way to publicly profess Jesus as Lord and Savior
  • Helps prepare you to share your faith with others
  • Can open doors for conversations—not to convince, but to inspire

Writing Your Testimony

You can either type your testimony directly on the form or upload a PDF. This submission will be used as the foundation for your testimony video, so you’ll want it to clearly reflect your personal story in your own words.

Here’s a simple outline to help you get started:

  • Before Jesus: What was my life like before knowing Him?
  • Acceptance: When and how did I accept Jesus as Savior?
  • Since Jesus: What has God been doing in my life since then?
  • Meaningful Scripture: Which passages guide or inspire me?

Helpful Note

* Your written testimony will be used when recording your baptism video. Minor edits may be made for clarity, length, or service timing, while keeping your story and message true to you.
