Shepherd Care

A c3 Ministry of Encouragment

Mission Statement
The purpose of the Shepherd Care Committee is to help implement the church's vision by encouraging each individual to persevere through trial, to love one another, and to enjoy the fruits of the Spirit.

The Shepherd Care Committee
Under the leadership of the Deacon of Shepherd Care, volunteer shepherds head up flocks or groups. The Deacon of Shepherd Care acts as a chairperson of the committee, and works together with the Senior Pastor to coordinate the Shepherd Care ministries of the church.

Duties and Responsibilities
In coorperation with the Senior Pastor and the Council of Elders, the Shepherd Care Committee works to maximize church involvement and spiritual health of each individual in the congregation. The shepherds notify the church office of any serious illnesses and, as time permits, may assist the Pastor in the ministry of visitation of the sick and shut-in.

How Shepherd Care Works
The whole of the congregation is divided into a number of groups or flocks, with newcombers being assigned to a flock once their attendance becomes regular.

Each member of the Shepherd Care Committee is assigned as shepherd to a specific flock of individuals and/or families.

Each shepherd works to become familiar with the identity of each member of their flock and learn of any needs they may have for prayer or support. When a member of their flock is absent from church for a period of time, shepherds might contact the member to offer support and encouragment as needed.

When a financial need is identified, the shepherd may notify the Deacon of Shepherd Care who can request a disbursement from the Fellowship Fund, after discussion from the Pastor.
