There are a number of ways to be involved and serving at Crosspointe.  Below are a short list of suggested opportunities.  If you are interested in any of these ways to serve, or have ideas on other ways to share your gifts and talents, please contact either the person indicated in the listing or Lisa Rance in the Crosspointe office at 313.881.3343 ex 1010.

Children's Ministry

Opportunity: Nursery Worker

  • This would be perfect for someone who enjoys working with children age birth through 23 months.
  • Commitment: One Sunday per month (or less) during both the 9:30 and 11 am services.
  • Special skills or requirements: ability to change a diaper in 3.5 seconds or less.

Opportunity: Toddler Leader

  • This would be perfect for someone who enjoys working with children age 2 to 3.5 years. 
  • Commitment: Serving the even or odd months during the 9:30 am or 11 am service.
  • Special skills or requirements: Works well with small children

Opportunity: Preschool Leader

  • This would be perfect for someone who enjoys working with children age 3.5 to 4 years. 
  • Commitment: Serving the even or odd months during the 9:30 am or 11 am service.

Opportunity: Early Elementary Leader

  • This would be perfect for someone who enjoys working with children ages Kindergarten to 1st grade.
  • Commitment: Serving the odd or even months during the 11 a.m. service.
  • Special skills or requirements: Works well with children, can follow curriculum, can lead activities.

Opportunity: Upper Elementary Leader

  • This would be perfect for someone who enjoys working with children ages 2nd grade to 4th grade.
  • Commitment: Serving the odd or even months during the 11 a.m. service.
  • Special skills or requirements: Works well with children, can follow curriculum, can lead activities.

Opportunity: Children's Greeter and Check-In

  • This would be perfect for someone who is outgoing and friendly
  • Commitment: Serving the Even Months (August, October, etc) from 10:45 - 11:15 a.m.
  • Special skills or requirements: People person with some computer knowledge

Opportunity: AWANA Small Group Leader (T&T)

  • This would be perfect for someone who enjoys working with 3rd and 4th graders.
  • Commitment: Wednesday evenings from 6 -8 p.m. September - April
  • Special skills or requirements: Works well with children in a small group (4-6 children) setting, can follow curriculum, can lead simple activities and discussions.

Opportunity: AWANA Small Group Leader (SPARKS)

  • This would be perfect for someone who enjoys working with K, 1st, and 2nd graders.
  • Commitment: Wednesday evenings from 6 -8 p.m. September - April
  • Special skills or requirements: Works well with children in a small group (4-6 children) setting, can follow curriculum, can lead simple activities and discussions.


ROOTED Student Ministries

Opportunity: High School Youth Leader
  • This would be perfect for someone who has a passion to see students / young people come to know Jesus and to become more like Him.
  • Commitment: 2 hours on Sunday evenings and various trip opportunities. Meeting with Students outside of normal meeting times is encouraged
  • Special skills or requirements: This person must be outgoing and have great communication skills. These communication skills should be oriented towards developing strong relationships and an ability to draw out thoughts from another person (Ask the question that begs to be asked). This person must also have a sound understanding of Scripture in order to help students better understand the Bible and God. There should be clear evidence in this person's life that they live for God's glory and have grown to be more like Jesus. The youth leader is an example of what it means to be a christian and students need a clear example of someone who lives biblically.

Opportunity: Middle School Youth Leader

Women's Ministry

Opportunity: Women's Mentoring Program Team Member

  • This would be perfect for someone who sees the value in enabling women to spend on-on-one time with each other and who would like to help facilitate mentoring connections..
  • Commitment: Planning seasons are held in the fall, in order to accommodate January kick-offs.
  • Special skills or requirements: Seeking those with the gifts of hospitality, administration, service or helps.

Opportunity: Women's Conference Team Member

  • This would be perfect for someone who enjoys helping plan large, dynamic events and has the ability to think outside of the box in creative ways.
  • Commitment: 2-3 months of planning prior to the event
  • Special skills or requirements: "Do It Yourself" skills are a plus. Must be able to assist in the research of creative staging and backdrop concepts (for onsite events). Must have the ability to take direction from the team leader(s).

Opportunity: Women's Event Team Member

  • This would be perfect for someone who enjoys participating in the creation of a simple one-time event. Examples might be a movie night at the church, a field trip someplace local, or some other fun "ladies night out."
  • Commitment: Barring any conflicts with the master calendar, these events can be worked around the event planner's schedule.
  • Special skills or requirements: Must be willing to be trained on the basics of women's event planning and communicate well with ministry director.

Opportunity: Women's Ministry Childcare Provider

  • This would be perfect for someone who enjoys working with children
  • Commitment: Choose from Monday nights from 6:15 - 8:15 p.m., Wednesday mornings from 8:45 - 11 a.m., or periodically as needed for special events.
  • Special skills or requirements: Works well with small children, has participated in Kid-Care training with CM Director and has completed background check on file with Crosspointe.


Worship Arts & Tech Team Opportunities

Opportunity: Band Member

  • This would be perfect for someone who plays an instrument (guitar, bass, drums, keys, etc.) and has a passion for worship.
  • Commitment: Thursday rehearsal 7-8:30pm and one Sunday (8 a.m. practice and both services) as often as you would like to be scheduled.
  • Special skills or requirements: Ability to follow the setlist, communicate with fellow band members, and adapt to the style of worship. Previous musical experience is a plus.

Opportunity: Vocalist

  • This would be perfect for someone who loves to sing and can harmonize with others in a worship setting..
  • Commitment: Thursday rehearsal 8:30-9:30pm and one Sunday (8 a.m. practice and both services) as often as you would like to be scheduled.
  • Special skills or requirements: Ability to follow vocal parts, harmonize, blend with the team, and worship with enthusiasm. Experience in choral or worship settings is helpful.

Opportunity: ProPresenter Operator

  • This would be perfect for someone who is interested in running the slides for everything that is shown on the screens of the sanctuary.
  • Commitment: One Sunday (8 a.m. practice and both services) as often as you would like to be scheduled.
  • Special skills or requirements: Willingness to be trained in ProPresenter, detail oriented, able to multi-task and follow along with the service order and sermon speaker.

Opportunity: Webcast Director

  • This would be perfect for someone who is interested in video production and streaming technology.
  • Commitment: One Sunday (8 a.m. practice and both services) as often as you would like to be scheduled.
  • Special skills or requirements: Willingness to be trained in streaming software and on the cameras, detail oriented, able to multi-task and follow along with the service order and sermon speaker.

Opportunity: Sound Technician

  • This would be perfect for someone who is willing to be directed and is interested in sound related technology, creating audio mix and supporting the needs of the musicians in relation to mics, amps and monitors.
  • Commitment: One Sunday (8 a.m. practice and both services) as often as you would like to be scheduled.
  • Special skills or requirements: Basic knowledge of music and sound technology helpful. An "ear" for creating the sound mix. Willingness to learn and be trained.

Opportunity: Sunday Morning Producer

  • This would be perfect for someone who is organized, a strong communicator, and able to lead a tech team under pressure.
  • Commitment: One Sunday a month (8 a.m. practice and both services) plus communication during the week for service planning and coordination.
  • Special skills or requirements: Basic knowledge of ProPresenter, live streaming, and sound/tech equipment.
  • Willingness to learn and be trained on additional tech responsibilities. Experience in service coordination or working with worship/tech teams is a plus. This role involves working directly with the Creative & Tech Director.

Opportunity: Worship Tech Programmer

  • This would be perfect for someone who is detail-oriented, creative, and comfortable working with technology. 
  • Commitment: One Sunday a month or as needed, with programming completed onsite by Friday before the service. Communication during the week for service planning and coordination is also required
  • Special skills or requirements: Proficiency in ProPresenter for media programming and experience with Vista3 or similar lighting software. Able to handle multiple technical tasks. Graphic design skills are a plus. This role involves working directly with the Creative & Tech Director.


First Impressions

Opportunity: Sunday Morning Greeter

  • This would be perfect for someone who is outgoing.
  • Commitment: One Sunday per month before and between services.
  • Special skills or requirements: Willing to meet new people, general knowledge of facility, classes, and services in order to answer and direct guests.

Opportunity: Sunday Morning Usher

  • This would be perfect for someone who is willing to greet and seat guests as well as collect the offering.
  • Commitment: One Sunday per month from 9:15 - 9:45 a.m. and from 10:45 - 11:15 a.m.
  • Special skills or requirements: Willingness to be trained.

Opportunity: Donut and Bagel Delivery

  • This would be perfect for someone who drives past Donut Express or Eastside Bagel on their way to church.
  • Commitment: One month per quarter.
  • Special skills or requirements: Willing to arrive with donuts or bagels by 9:00 a.m.

Opportunity: Continental Breakfast Service

  • This would be perfect for someone who is organized, detail oriented and enjoys serving others.
  • Commitment: One month per quarter.
  • Special skills or requirements: Willing to arrive at C3 by 8:45 a.m. to start the coffee brew machines, stock and set the coffee service area and maintain the coffee station before and between services. Willing to clear and rinse the stations and supplies at the end of the morning; preparing it for the next use.

Opportunity: Incarcerated Youth Ministries Chaplain

  • This would be perfect for someone who is open to ministering to and praying with incarcerated teens at the centers served by IYM in the Detroit area.
  • Commitment: IYM meets with residents on Tuesday evenings, Saturday mornings, and Saturday evenings. Any or all of these weekly commitments would be appreciated.
  • **There are two one day retreats scheduled each summer that are in need of volunteers. If a weekly commitment is too much, you may want to try a retreat date instead.**
  • Special skills or requirements: Ability to listen, willingness to share the Gospel, open to answering basic questions of faith and pray.


Shepherd Care

Opportunity: Take-Them-A-Meal

  • This would be perfect for someone who is willing to plug in, when available, to cook (or purchase) and deliver meals to those in our church family who are in need.
  • Commitment: This is an on-call style volunteer position. Emails go out as needs arise. When the email comes, if you are free, sign up, cook a meal and deliver it on your day. If you aren't, no problem, maybe when the next email comes around you'll be available.
  • Special skills or requirements: Ability to cook a meal (or purchase a meal) and deliver it.
